CONTEXT:

Client contacted ONDE 57 to request help developing his new office. To him, the office is where he wants to spend most of his time, so the design should support that and include most aspects of his daily routine. The project is rooted in the idea of creating an open-floor concept that seamlessly unites leisure and work spaces to make the space feel welcoming and comfortable.

PROBLEM:

The old building structure consists of a large number of structural pillars, which should not be displaced or demolished. Old engineering systems have to be replaced in order to provide better HVAC performance, however, new systems can only be installed below finished floor or above finished ceiling levels. The ceiling height cannot be majorly decresed due to the conflict with the windows, protected by the law as part of the city's architectural heritage.

SOLUTION:

The concept, created by ONDE 57, uses the disadvantage of structural pillars to visually create logical zoning with both possibilities of working and recreational activities. Avoiding unnecessary separation walls allows us to use the full volumetric potential of the space. Pendant lights in the working areas, doubling as sound absorption panels, allow us to avoid sound reverberation.

As a result of our work, the project study, concept creation, and technical drawings were finished within 10 weeks, including 2 project revisions. We would like to thank our client for choosing ONDE 57 to develop his personal office project.
